The Jade Magician slot machine should be the pinnacle of Play ‘n Go’s slot development years. They have had numerous years’ worth of experience to develop something sublime.
The volatility and RTP of a slot are a good way to assess whether it’s worth a spin. Jade Magician has a theoretical RTP of 96% which represents the average payout to a player staking 100.00 over thousands of spins. This gives you an idea of the kind of return to expect, though your personal RTP will depend on the way the reels spin for you. Jade Magician slot has a decent RTP of 96.54% and despite the high volatility the adjacent pays ensure a decent turnover of your stake. There is potential for 1000+ x stake wins in the base game and especially the bonus plus the second chance feature adds interest to those perpetually annoying 2 scatter spins on slot. Jade Magician is a five reel slot with three rows and up to fifteen paylines; it’s all very green and atmospheric – the reels spin within an ornate, organic frame behind which we can just make out the green eyes of the Jade Magician herself.
Jade Magician doesn’t quite cut the mustard. The slot has acceptable features, and dirt cheap bets, but the graphics are a little behind the times. You can see what Play ‘n Go were thinking of, and to some players, graphics aren’t all that important.
They must still be of a standard quality, though, and we don’t get that impression from the Jade Magician slot, though. Even if you’re not interested in graphics at all, you may still feel underwhelmed with the special features in the Jade Magician slot machine.
How to play it
Play ‘n Go have done for their typical wagering range in this slot, as well as a petite gaming structure. There are only 15 paylines on the reels of the slot, and you can – not that you would want to – adjust them.
The 5-reel slot allows you to select coin denominations which fluctuate from $0.01 up to $0.25, and you can stake up to 5 coins per line. Minimum bets cost just $0.01 per line per spin, whilst maximum bets are fixed at a ceiling of $18.75 per spin, which is peanuts, really.
How much can you win?
Given that wagers are as cheap as chips, we’re were not expecting much bounce for our buck when it came to jackpots. Jade Magician offers up a non-progressive jackpot, but it is one which is worth a cool 2,500 coins.
That’s not bad going at all for such a cheap slot. By contrast, other prizes are worth a respectable 250 to 1,000 coins when 5 appear on a payline.

Special symbols
Wild symbols: The Jade Magician herself is the scatter not the wild – unusual for Play ‘n Go slots, which usually feature the title character as a wild. Nonetheless, the green orb acts as a wild which can replace all other symbols save for scatters. These symbols can double the value of all winning combinations in which they appear.
Scatter symbols: As we’ve said, the Jade Magician is a scatter, and she can offer free spins when she appears 3 times during any spin. There are no scatter prizes, though, and that is a bit of a shame, really.
Free spins / Bonus features
Second Chance feature: Should players only manage to land 2 scatters, they won’t necessarily miss out on triggering the bonus round. A Second Chance feature can see players get to pick from a serious of objects to try and locate that all-important, missing third scatter icon.
Free spins bonus: The free spins bonus leaves players feeling a little flat. There are 5 free spins offered to players initially, with the scatter becoming the wild during this feature. There is no real reason for that, but there you go. Scatter wilds can offer additional free spins when they appear on the reels of this slot.

Overall experience and final thoughts
Jade Magician doesn’t really deliver. Truth be told, Play ‘n Go haven’t hyped up this slot too much, so perhaps they knew that the end product just wasn’t capable of delivering the goods.
The slot is fine if you happen to be playing at a casino which offers so-so games – it is better than many other magic-themed slots. There just isn’t enough quality or substance to the Jade Magician themed slot to see it take on some of the other really big non-progressive slots being released this year, though. At best we can say that we found Jade Magician to be an average release.

Play ‘n Go’s Jade Magician is this developer’s take on the often-produced epic magician theme. We often see warlocks, wizards and witches in slots, and the new Jade Magician slot is no different in that regard.
Jade Magician certainly looks epic in theme, although its graphics do lead to disappointment. A skilled developer such as the Scandinavian Play ‘n Go should be able to conjure up better graphics than what one sees in this 5-reel, 15-line non-progressive video slot.
Developers
Play ‘n Go tend to be a bit of a hit and miss company. Some of their slots blow you away visually, as well as offer quality features, some of which you simply won’t find anywhere else.
At other times, they seem to miss the boat, with shoddy graphics and barely enjoyable feature. With the Jade Magician slot, they have fallen somewhere in-between. The graphics are poor, but the features are more than alright.

Wild symbols: Jade Magician’s wild symbol appears as an orb, and this green symbol can substitute for all other symbols in the slot machine except for scatter symbols. Scatter icons: Scatter symbols appear as the Jade Magician herself. When these symbols appear 3 times anywhere on the screen during a single spin, the player will trigger a free spins feature. It is worth noting that scattered wins are not paid out in this game.
Second Chance feature: If you are unable to land 3 scatters to trigger the bonus round in this game, you needn’t fret. Landing just two scatters will trigger a Second Chance feature, which will allow players to try and find the hidden third scatter to trigger the free spins bonus round.

Summary
Jade Magician has not got the best graphics of any Play ‘n Go slot. This much we’ve said and will state again. However, the features in the game are admirable.
They are not the best special features we’ve ever seen, and there isn’t really a reason for the scatter to replace the wild in the feature, but few players would grumble at the wins they can have with the features in this slot machine. If only the graphics were of a considerably greater quality, then this slot might be a real hit.
