According to the number of players searching for it, Star Trek Red Alert is not a very popular slot. Still, that doesn't necessarily mean that it's bad, so give it a try and see for yourself, or browse popular casino games.

Playing the Star Trek: Red Alert Slot

Strip away the 1960’s TV series theme and you have something of a standard five reel slot. This game has 25 win lines and you’ll not have the option to play fewer. These 25 lines come at the cost of 35 credits as the features cost an additional 10 credits. The total stake for each spin is therefore 35x your chosen coin value. If you are playing for real money, then this would be 0.35 per spin at the lowest possible coin setting.

Star

Fortunately you can win at this slot without boldly going where no man has gone before, as its simply a case of landing three or more consecutive symbols from left to right on a win line. The Star Trek insignia is the highest paying of the symbols, worth 1,500 coins for five in a row. Kirk, Spock and McCoy pay 1,000, 500 and 400 coins respectively, while the rest of the symbols are worth between 250 and 100 coins for a full house of 5. Trekkies will be happy to see the Starship Enterprise on the reels as the wild and this will substitute for any other symbol apart from the scatter.

One of the standout features of the game are the randomly awarded bonuses that can come your way after some winning spins. These include the ‘Enterprise Fly By’ where the winning symbols will turn into wilds, feature or character symbols, ‘Scotty’s Wild Reel’ where he will turn up to 2 complete reels wild and the ‘Spock Multiplier’ where your current win will be awarded a multiplier of between 3x and 10x.

Trek

At some slots this might be as good as it gets, but the best is yet to come. The scatter symbol activates the feature when appearing three times or more across the reels – this might be obvious though as the scatter symbol has the word ‘Feature!’ emblazoned across it. The feature is a free spins round, although you won’t receive a set number of spins – instead you’ll have shield points. You’ll start with 5, but every non-winning spin decreases your shield by 1. Fortunately you’ll also find a 100% shields symbol in this round which can replenish your shields back to 5, making this feature potentially endless.

Every time you achieve a win during the free spins round you’ll find a graphic appear above the reels where the Starship Enterprise will shoot at a number of enemy craft, each one being represented with a different multiplier, these ranging from 2x to 15x and are applied directly to the win amounts.

Even now the round may not be over as you’ll head to the communication screen and choose channel A or B. Here you can either gain a spin until you win, have your shields replenished or come to the end of the round.

Did I also mention the medals? During play you’ll earn these and if you gain enough you’ll unlock extra episodes, while your current rank is displayed on the top right hand corner of the screen.

My guess is that the makers of the original Star Trek series would be mightily impressed if they were told that a slot machine based on the series would appear almost 50 years later. They would be even more impressed if they played it! This is an all action game where the features just keep coming. The randomly awarded features are excellent in themselves, but the ‘Red Alert’ feature takes the game to another level. This is a must play, whether a fan of the series or not.

Star Trek Red Alert is the first of five instalments (in true television series fashion) from WMS based on the sensational Star Trek franchise that has captivated the imagination of generations, adding to their long line of licensed slots and featuring video clips from the original TV series. The first of the five-part series is based on the The Original Series that aired from 1966 to 1969.

Played across 5 reels and 30 paylines, Star Trek Red Alert boasts a 96% return to player percentage, generous staking options from 25p up to £105 per spin, a feature offering ‘unlimited’ free spins, plus four random features – but how does it compare to the Star Trek slot machine produced by IGT? Let’s find out…

Sci-Fi Symbols in Retro Style

The whole design of Star Trek Red Alert is sensational with the stars in the galaxy quickly passing by you aboard the Enterprise, plus all of your favourite characters from the series make a welcome appearance too!

Firstly, there is the Star Trek logo which acts Wild, and how online slot machines work in most cases, has the ability to replace every other symbol apart from the Feature. The Feature simply states the word on top of an explosion effect and this is needed for the Red Alert bonus feature. Captain Kirk, Spock and Dr. McCoy are the most valuable character symbols and are accompanied by the Evil Guy, a medical tricorder, communicator, Starfleet insignias, Phaser pistols, and Klingon birds.

Be On Red Alert for Unlimited Spins

Free Star Trek Slots Wms

The main bonus feature in Star Trek Red Alert is the Red Alert Feature that starts once you land three or more of the Feature symbols anywhere on the reels. This feat sees you rewarded with unlimited free spins. Yes, you read that right, but of course there is a catch so you won’t be spinning the reels from here to infinity!

You begin with five shields and a multiplier of between 2x and 15x but each time you fail to land a winning combination one of the shields is removed and whenever you land a winning combination your multiplier value decreases by one. It’s not all doom and gloom when run out of shields though as you get to select one of two communication channels to ring in support and recharge your shields. Selecting ‘Spin Till You Win’ sees the reels continue to spin until you land another win, while the ‘Shields to Full’ option sees all five shields recharged back to 1005 and the feature continues once again, with the ‘No Extra Spin’ option seeing the feature end then and there.

As if unlimited free spins, a highly valuable multiplier, and five lives wasn’t enough, WMS also provide you with the ability to retrigger the feature by landing three or more Shield symbols (though you can never get more than five shields at once), plus each time you blast the 15x you’ll earn a medal for your efforts!

Random Features with Win Warp

For the winning spins that don’t result in the Red Alert feature being triggered, Win Warp could kick into action which results in one of the following four random features occurring to further reward you.

Rock Create Multiplying Wild: This sees a multiplying Wild left behind in random positions on one of the reels which never fails to bring hefty wins – guaranteeing between 3x and 10x.

Scotty’s Wild: “Beam me up, Scotty!” This sees Scotty appear on screen to fill one or two of the reels with Scotty Wild symbols for incredible winning combinations.

Spock Multiplier: This simply sees the legendary Spock appear on the reels to multiply your win between 3x and 10x its original amount.

Enterprise Fly-By: My favourite random feature of all sees the iconic Enterprise fly on screen to transform all of the symbols that formed your winning combination – replacing them with even higher valued ones (such as the Wild, Feature, Insignia, Kirk, Spock, or McCoy symbols) for an even greater prize.

Collect Medals to Explore New Worlds

Star Trek Red Alert Slot Machine

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the Star Trek Red Alert slot machine is that you are tasked with accumulating medals throughout gameplay by spinning the reels - all real money slot machines are better with additional incentives after all. There is a counter positioned above the reels outlining the number of medals required in order to gain access to the Star Trek Explore New Worlds slot machine, and to the right your Starfleet Rank is shown – with everyone beginning on the low level Starfleet Recruit level and having to prove their worth before their journey on the Enterprise is ended!
